[4]After all my moaning and groaning about bad sales, I am pleased to report that we are back in business, people! I don’t know if it was just the timing of it all or the fact that I did some sneak peeking last week, but let me tell you good times were had by this Grocery Geek this week. I probably went a little crazy. But frugal thrills come cheap. Let me count the ways:

CVS
I walked in with zero ECBs, spent about $21 cash, and came away with $12 ECBs. Not bad for a morning’s work. Here’s how the math worked:

Transaction 1
3 bags M&Ms (for monkey treats, of course) = $1.50
6 bags Lifesavers (BOGO) = $6.57
Subtotal = $8.07
Minus BOGO Lifesaver coupon 2.19
Minus BOGO Lifesaver coupon 2.19
Paid $3.69 + tax
(Somehow I couldn’t wrap my brain around the BOGO concept. This was supposed to be Buy $10 candy, get $5 ECBs. So, I just added more candy to my next transaction.)

[5]

Transaction 2
4 candy bars = $2
Revlon lipstick = $9.99
Schick Intuition razor kit = $3.99
Ultra Bandaids $2.99
CVS Makeup wipes $2.99
Subtotal = $21.96
Minus $1 Revlon coupon
Minus $1 Bandaid coupon
Minus $2 CVS Skincare coupon
Minus $3.99 Schick coupon
Paid $13.97 +tax, rec’d back ECBs for $9.99, $5, $2, and $1, making a profit of about $.30 minus the tax.

[6]

Transaction 3
4 packages Stayfree pads @$4.50 each = $18
1 Neosporin = $5
4 Zone bars = $4
1 Benadryl anti-itch stick = $3.19
Subtotal $30.19
Minus Zone coupons for $2.10
Minus $1 neosporin coupon
Minus $1 Benadryl coupon
Minus $4.50 Stayfree coupon
Minus $4.50 Stayfree coupon
Paid $17.09 in ECBs and cash
Rec’d back ECBs for $10, $1

[7]
Basically I got a TON of stuff for $9.

Walgreens
Wags has been coming through with some good deals lately. I may switch some of my loyalty!

Transaction #1
6 Olay Body wash = $20
1 newspaper $1.25
Minus $11 Olay coupons
Paid $11.85, rec’d back $7 in Register Rewards, meaning all that “cost” $4.85!
[8]
I wasn’t planning to go back, but then they sent me an email about $5/$20 purchase, so me and five kids and a pocket full of lifesavers headed back on Thursday.

5 Nabisco crackers = $10
light bulbs $1.99 (free after rebate)
Bio-infusion shampoo $5.99 (free after rebate)
Pert plus shampoo $3.79 (free after rebate)
Scrubbing Bubbles starter kit $5.49 ($1.50 rebate)
Subtotal $27.26
Minus $2 Pert coupon
Minus $2.75 Scrubbing Bubbles coupon
Minus $5 Wags coupon
Owed $17.51
Paid in Register Rewards and cash. Rec’d back $3 in RR, $13.27 in store rebates, and another $5.49 from a Scrubbing Bubbles rebate. So basically, I made $4.25 profit off this transaction!

[9]

Walmart
I wowed the people in line behind me when I saved over $15 in coupons. Some of the highlights:

DH cake mix $.98 – .50 coupon = $.48
TLC crackers $2.78 – $2 coupon = $.78
King Arthur flour clearanced for $2.50!
Muir Glen tomatoes $1.18 – $1 coupon = $.18
Bertolli’s pasta sauce $1.78 – $1 coupon = $.78
King’s Hawaiian rolls $.98 – .65 coupon = $.33

[10]

Hy-Vee
eggs $.99
General Mills granola bars, buy 10 boxes, get $5, got it down to about a buck a box after coupons
pasta $.96
Yogo bites $1.67 – $1 coupon = $.67
Just bunches $2 – $2 coupon = free
salad mix $1
applesauce $2 – .50 coupon = $1.50
canteloupe $1.50
red peppers $.66
apples $1.28

[11]

Last stop: Hen House
croutons $.86 – .50 coupon = .36
ham, marked down to $1.99 – .55 coupon = 1.44
cauliflower $1.50
King’s Hawaiian rolls $.89 – .65 = .23
lemonade .67
frozen pizzas $1.86
Yoplait .39 each – $.80/6 = .25 each
milk $3.08/gallon
cheese $2.96/#

[12]

And now, in writing this post, I’ve found errors (in my favor) on three different receipts! Ouch! I need to pay better attention.
