Inspiring! We will be making our gifts this year because we don’t have the resources to go out and spend, spend, spend. It is good to remember what Christmas really is about…

Thanks for the reminder. We need to take our shoeboxes to the church across town this week. I decided to do 2 shoeboxes with my kids this year. We hope to plan ahead and work up to doing 5next year. Now that I know how to stock up, get things for free at CVS/wags.:) It was fun to see how my children really got into what we could put into the boxes. They began to go to their rooms and bring me a steady stream of toys, etc. I said, “Lets get some NEW things for the boy and girl.” We had a great time and it helped them get their eyes off themselves and what they wanted. Its a constant battle. This morning I had to tell them that since they were arguing over the “toys are us” catelogue, we would just throw it away. And I did!

Great reminder of what is truly important. GFA has a catalog where you can purchase gifts for families in Asia, such as chickens or goats. You can do this in someone’s name instead of giving them a gift that they most likely don’t need as much as these poor people in Asia do. Here is the website: http://gfa.org/gift/08/from-the-stable/

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
