We are definitely going to be starting the jesse tree tradition next year with our little ones. I have never heard of this before, but I lOVE it!!! I'm thinking I want to start looking around for ornaments (maybe after christmas clearance???). Is there any way you could provide a list of what ornaments should go with each day? I tried to search the internet and couldn't really find anything.

For the second year we are doing the 25 Days of Giving. We're teaching our kids about the gift we've been given and teaching them to give of themselves in small and large ways. I'll be talking more about it on my blog. Thetraintocrazy.typepad.com

I LOVE THE "JESSE TREE" Ornaments!! How great it that!! I am going to try and "make" my own and I think it would be a wonderful thing to do! May I link your post on my blog when I write about Advent?

Back when the kids were little, we heard this idea and made it our own. It started with a 'pile' of straw and an empty basket that symbolized the manger. Every little good deed, act of kindness, etc was cause to pick 1 piece of straw and put it in the 'manger'. The goal was to have heaping nest for the Baby Jesus to lay His sweet head. It was simple enough for even the youngest child to understand and participate.

There are all sorts of resources out there. I didn't list them because I'm only familiar with that one devotional book. But, if you do a search for 'jesse tree ornaments' you'll find lots of links for ornaments that you can buy or make.

I really like your ornament idea. I wonder where I can find some "Jesus" ornaments. I'm posting a series on my blog right now in honor of the Advent season.
