Thanks for this post. I *really* needed to see that today. I am such a perfectionist that when I plan my menu I expect it to work out or I want to throw in the towel. I just posted (AKA whined) on my blog about how I my menu didn't go perfectly (I survived though).

In the future, I need to remember that it is there to serve me!

I use a menu plan to save money and utilize the food from weekly sales, food bank and Angel Food.

These days there's no room for wasting money.

Your menu sounds delicious. Happy Thanksgiving!

Have you ever heard of shelf milk? If so, can you use it in a baking recipe?

Thanks for saying that the plan is there to serve us!

I get a great kick out of finding out I don't need as many meals as I planned. It represents either money saved or meals for another day that I don't have to plan for!

It took me awhile to learn not to be a slave to my plans. Not just my menu plans but also to my daily schedule. When I finally learned (most of the time) that the plans are a guideline not a law, life went a lot smoother.

I do the same. I come up with a meal plan for me. It helps with planning, think time and having all the items on hand. I tend to mix it up, carry over and work with unexpected leftovers. I don't feel I HAVE to stick to it. But it SURE helps me out TONS. I also save money at the grocery store with a list and time not wandering around the box trying to figure out what we'll eat that week.

YES! I've often wondered what people's menus really look like each week :) Menu plans do provide great guidance and direction. Sometimes, though, leftovers stretch longer than you may have originally planned, you get more creative than you planned, people get sick and eat less than planned, etc. Many variables that make reality look different than the plan, but planning helps stir up our creative juices :) So many items on my plans carry over from week to week for these very reasons!
