Freezer Cooking Days are Here Again!
Posted By Jessica Fisher On February 23, 2010 @ 12:51 pm In Freezer Cooking,Good Eats,Meal Planning | 12 Comments
My goodness, but February is a short month. It seems like the month just started, doesn’t it? It certainly feels like I just filled my freezer . But, truth be told, I am ready to do it again. My oldest boy is quickly approaching 13, and his appetite is growing by the hour.
I want to make sure that my children have the healthiest food that time and money allow. One way that I can pull that off is to do some freezer cooking each month. I spend a few days planning, shopping, and cooking, and then at the end of that “freezer cooking daze,” I have a wealth of preprepped meals ready to go.
I hope that you’ll join me and my friend Crystal over the next week as we host another Virtual All-Day Cooking Bash.
If you have absolutely no clue what I’m talking about, don’t worry. I’ll be back tomorrow with a more thorough explanation of freezer cooking. It’s also known as “once-a-month cooking” or bulk cooking. So maybe you have heard of it. You just forgot. Either way, I hope that giving you a day-by-day glimpse into how it happens will encourage you to try it. There are lots of ways to do; it doesn’t have to be all casseroles . And there are lots of ways to make it work for you and your family.
Over the next few days I’ll be sharing freezer cooking basics as well as how to tweak recipes for once-a-month-cooking. I’ll share my plan as well as how it came about. On Friday, you’ll have an opportunity to share your plan over at Money Saving Mom . Depending on how my weekend goes, I may do some cooking over Saturday and Sunday, but for the most part, I plan to cook on Monday and Tuesday. I’ll share updates as well as mishaps over those days. On Tuesday, share your progress over at Crystal’s place .
The purpose of the link-ups is to share successes and failures and to learn from one another. Plus, you may discover a fun blog in the process. You can also sign up and follow along on our Facebook Event page . And we’ll be tweeting using the #oamc hashtag.
I hope you’ll join us — either vicariously or in real life — as we endeavor to feed our families frugal and wholesome home-cooked meals.
