Easy Bottle Feeding with Steribottle – A Giveaway!

July 27, 2010

As Lauren mentioned earlier today, moms with young babies will do well to plan ahead and simplify for the holidays. She mentioned some great ways in which she is going to make this Christmas a little more peaceful and a little easier on Mom.

It’s important to keep in mind that some ways that are easier for some are not necessarily easier for others. For instance, let’s consider feeding. I breastfed all my babies. That worked well for us.

But, I have known many moms for varying reasons for whom exclusive breastfeeding was not a realistic or preferred option. In their lives as MOM, bottle-feeding works for them.

Steribottle can make bottle-feeding easier.

Steribottle has been popular in the United Kingdom since 2000. Now, it’s come to the New World.

Here are some of the advantages of this disposable and recyclable baby bottle:

  • No need to wash or sterilize – just open the box, take out one ready-to-use bottle and nipple, fill, and feed.
  • Perfect for traveling – when you don’t want to take a full kit of bottles and sterilizers with you. And there’s no need to carry home half-finished bottles that have been sitting around for hours – once you’ve done feeding, just dispose or recycle.
  • Ideal for those 3 a.m. feeds when you don’t have any clean bottles and just want another 10-15 minutes of rest. Steribottle helps you feed your child and get back to sleep faster.
  • Perfect for daycare too because Steri-bottle is a single-use bottle that features a locking cap so you can be sure your baby gets the feed that you’ve prepared.

Each package comes with complete bottles and nipples that are ready to use, BPA-free and phthalate-free and 100% recyclable.

While I didn’t use bottles for my babies, I must confess one of the reasons I resisted bottle-feeding, even part-time, was the hassle washing bottles appeared to be. This appears to me to be a great solution to that dilemma. And in examining the Steribottle product up close, I see a quality bottle and nipple.

I think these could be a great asset for grandparents and daycare providers to keep on hand. If you know you’re going to have babies staying with you over the holidays, it couldn’t hurt to have a box on hand. Moms who bottle feed may want to keep a pack in their emergency kits as well as in the car for those days when you just don’t have the time to mess with washing bottles. And these would make great baby gifts as well.

This week five readers will each win a 10-pack box of Steribottle Ready To Use Baby Bottles.

How to Enter:

There are three ways that you can enter this giveaway. Pick one, pick ‘em all.

1. Leave a comment, telling us your favorite baby gift to give.

2. Follow @Steribottle and @FishMama on twitter and tweet about this giveaway. Then come back here and leave a separate comment with your twitter handle, telling me you did so.

3. Subscribe to LifeasMOM in a reader or via email and leave a separate comment, telling me you subscribe.

This giveaway will be open until Sunday night, August 1st at 8 pm, PST. Winners will be chosen at random and notified via email. You have 48 hours from the time I send the email to respond, otherwise I reserve the right to choose another winner.

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED.

I enjoy giving future mothers diapers at their showers, because I know that they are going to need tons of them! It might not be the most fun gift, but it definitely is needed!
Those bottles would be a great idea for a shower.

2 Kim July 27, 2010 at 11:54 am

I love to give Sassy’s Photo Book. It’s great for pictures of out of town family!

3 Jessica A. July 27, 2010 at 11:55 am

I like to give Halo sleep sacks since they were a life saver for us in the early days of being new parents.

4 Melissa Smith July 27, 2010 at 11:58 am

I love to give outfits…one because they need lots of them and two because I love to pick out cute baby clothes!! :)

5 Lucky July 27, 2010 at 12:01 pm

My favorite baby gift to give — diapers!

6 Stacy July 27, 2010 at 12:10 pm

I always get something off the registry and in addition make a small gift basket with some of the little things that made my life easy: mesh feeders, burp cloths, baby tylenol, teethers, etc.

Books of all sorts. I am a reading specialist, and it is that necessary bonding time with a baby that will give your kids a big jump start to their academics! Plus, I always throw in some gas drops-they saved our life!

9 JessieLeigh July 27, 2010 at 12:16 pm

I like to give big, waffle-weave blankets that actually WORK for swaddling. ;)

10 Tracy July 27, 2010 at 12:23 pm

My favorite gift to give is a baby tub filled with toys, washcloths and towels along with soaps and lotion.

11 Megan July 27, 2010 at 12:28 pm

I usually pick the bath stuff from the registry; a bathtub, towels, washclothes. Then I can fill in the rest with soaps, lotions, shampoo, wipes, creams, diapers that I snag for next to nothing…looks like a great gift and I only really paid for the tub and linens.

I love giving mamas 1) Tylenol, Chocolate, and Tucks OR 2) a plastic chair & stool for baby (mamas think I’m crazy for 2 gift until their little turns 8 months and LOVES this gift) :)

15 Andrea Watts July 27, 2010 at 12:36 pm

My favorite is diapers. You can always use them.

16 Suzie July 27, 2010 at 12:40 pm

I like giving gifts that a new mom will use a lot of- diapers, wipes, shampoo, etc. Anything to get them stocked up before the baby comes!

17 Sara July 27, 2010 at 12:41 pm

My fave gift is always clothes! I know its a bit selfish, but baby clothes are always so much fun to shop for!

18 Sarah July 27, 2010 at 12:46 pm

I love to do a travel feeding basket (like spoons, forks, travel place mats, etc.) Those bottles would also be an excellent item to add to the baskets!

19 Kristen July 27, 2010 at 12:51 pm

I love shopping for baby clothes, so every baby gets a new outfit!

20 Kristen July 27, 2010 at 12:58 pm

22 Kathy July 27, 2010 at 1:00 pm

I like to give diapers and a nice baby outfit(for a later size, not newborn). One thing they have to have and something cute that they might not splurge to buy themselves.

23 Kathleen July 27, 2010 at 1:00 pm

I like to get a square basket and fill it with cloth diapers, gas drops, the lil mittens, infant toys for their carseat or such, and teething rings. Most people tend to forget about the little things!

24 Carrie July 27, 2010 at 1:04 pm

1) Diapers – practical and I can get them for cheap with coupons and in-store deals (and even get some gift cards back for me – woo hoo!)

2) I love giving personal gifts so my top three of those are a hand-made blanket, a hand-knit cap (the pumpkin cap I made for a friend last year was a huge hit as a baby gift), and/or a favorite book from my childhood to help them get a library started for their child. :-)

25 Jori July 27, 2010 at 1:08 pm

I like to give a tub full of assorted baby products, such as diaper cream, wipes, lotion and baby wash. It gives the mom a head start and lets her try different product she might not have otherwise known about.

26 Caron July 27, 2010 at 1:08 pm

I love to give layette gowns. They are perfect for nighttime changes; who wants to fool with all those snaps?!?!? Also give Resinol, it always worked better than diaper ointment on my babies.

27 Jennifer Ott July 27, 2010 at 1:10 pm

I like giving a “diaper bag kit” with some of those essentials nicely packaged up: shout wipes, ziplocs, extra outfit, wipes, infant tylenol, tissues, trail mix of belly bars (for mamma), etc.

28 Buffie July 27, 2010 at 1:17 pm

I love to pick out a cute outfit and also give a mesh feeder. Various other fun items get thrown in too, but those two are pretty constant.

These bottles seem like a great idea. I think I’m going to have to get a pack so I can keep one in my emergency diaper bag.

I haven’t gone to a baby shower in a long time, but I think my new fave gift would be a bottle sterilizer that works in the microwave! I was passed along one for my youngest and it was WONDERFUL! You stick bottles and all the breast pump stuff in it and its sterlized in minutes without having to boil water, etc – a lifesaver with a summer baby!

87 Dawn July 28, 2010 at 6:37 am

I live in Scotland, and I used Steri-bottles while on holiday, and they were great, especially the no sterilising part!! My baby was 10 weeks. But after he was a few months old he refused the steri-bottle, so I would just make sure that your baby will take to them before you go off on holiday with only steri-bottles…just in case!!

124 Katie July 30, 2010 at 7:48 am

My favorite baby gift to give is diapers! At my stage of life, most of my friends are on their second or third (or more!) child so they have all of the basics already. Also, it’s been fairly easy to get good deals on diapers laterly so I can get more for my money and still give a nice gift that will definitely be put to use.

125 Laura July 30, 2010 at 11:15 am

I make diaper cakes! I start with size2 diapers for the lowest tear and work my way up to newborn. Then cover the cake with themed goodies. Rattles, pacifiers, bottles, and wash clothes etc. I worked in an infants dept for a while and lots of people would ask me what to give to an expecting mom, I told them if you know lots of people are getting diapers and clothes, then think about mom. Get her some goodies to keep here from having to miss time with the new baby. Or if there are other kids already buy things to keep them happy while mom’s busy with the baby. And last but not least buy things that are needed for a slightly older infant. After all newborn is not the only size it will wear! lol
