Kids are not that hard to entertain, especially if you 'sell' the idea properly. I find that doing things with them that I already enjoy or used to enjoy as a kid is a lot of fun. My kids love it when I tell them "me and your Aunt Mary used to do...." as we play some of the same games. Lovin' summer, it won't last as long as I want it to... We then spread the cones with cheapo peanut butter and roll in grass seed. We then return them to the woods for the animals to enjoy. The kids have a blast collecting the cones, 'decorating' them, then finding strategic places to place them for the critters. We also pop up big batches of popcorn and string them up to hang from the trees for the birds to eat. Both projects cheap, time-consuming and fun for everyone involved.
