Meet my niece, Lucie. Isn’t she beautiful?

Anyway, imagine my surprise when I saw this picture of her birthday cake on my sister’s blog. Remind you of something?

I was so touched and honored that Janel tried out the Rapunzel cake that FishChick had on her birthday. And I loved it that she made it special for Lucie by making it her favorite color and adding one of her favorite princesses. So fun!

    I’m planning to make your Rapunzel cake for our Daughters 6th Birthday in April. She has requested a “Tangled” party so I showed her the cake you made for your little girl and she LOVED it. She really likes the idea that she’d get to keep the doll on top of the cake. lol

    I’m going to make a small cake similar to the Rapunzel cake for our other daughters 2nd birthday in February but she’s a Thomas the train nut :) I plan to make it pink and put her Rosie train on the top, so it’s at least a little girly lol

  3. soooo adorable. I’ve lost track of how many things I’ve tried out from your Life as mom or Good (Cheap) eats one. I know that right now your Pantry Challenge is saving me alot of money by forcing me to be creative with my pantry and freezer stock.

  4. Just today I tried the homeade toaster strudels. I got the link from your site to Moms Crazy Cooking. I thought they were good but the kids are only moderately impressed. This is because they are addicted to the boxed ones, I’m sure. Maybe I should roll them out thinner next time?? A different filling or more filling?? Anyhoo, at least I feel good that I made them something HOMEADE today! ;)

    We love LifeasMOM pizza dough it is absolutely hands down the best. Our sixth grader loves to invite people on Friday night because its pizza night. One night we had a school event later in the evening on Friday and the kids were asking what the toppings were going to be tonite, I announced we were going to have frozen pizza and the whines insued…I made LifeasMOM pizza. :)

  10. I have been using your pizza dough recipe for a while now (since I got my breadmaker!) and my whole family loves it! :)
    I try most (all?) of your recipes- I’m pretty sure we live in the same general area so your sale shopping matches mine so whatever you’re cooking I usually have the same ingredients in my pantry! It’s been a lifesaver some nights when our schedule has gotten off track! :)
    Your freezer cooking posts have been really inspiring- I even got a chest freezer as a Christmas gift because I talk about how I want to do freezer cooking “for real” so much! :)

I have started a home organizer binder/notebook, made a cleaning schedule, started planning meals a month in advance, read and made recipes from Beth H’s bread machine book (which I now love and am looking to own) thanks to your rave reviews. I have also tried countless recipes turning them vegetarian to fit our family’s needs. Every recipe has been stellar. Now..the big one I am going to tackle freezer cooking in the very near future. See you are a true inspiration. Sorry no pictures!

  12. I’ve made many things from “Life as Mom”. Besides curing my addiction to delivery pizza, I’m tonight in the process of making your Death Star cake for my 11 yr olds party tomorrow. Thank you so much for all the recipes and inspiration!!

  13. Quite a few things, but some of the most recent being your book list and the pourable cookie frosting “painted” on with basting brushes. We used a pourable frosting for our Christmas cut-out cookies. And just yesterday, my 3 year old decided that he wanted to make clock cookies like Max and Ruby did for their New Year’s episode. (In his mind, until the next holiday rolls around, we’re still celebrating New Year’s. You should see the looks we get when he tells cashiers at the grocery store, etc “Happy New Year” as we leave.) Any who, we used pourable frosting on circle cut-outs and then used regular and mini chocolate chips to make the cookies look like clock faces with the hands pointing to midnight.:)

    You have given me many, many ideas. Last summer, we(dh, 2 dd) went on vacation with my parents and brother. My dad can’t get around very well so I was looking for things to do at the beach house. I loved your idea of tie dye shirts. They looked so pretty hanging on the line outside. Plus we had a “souvenir beach t-shirt”.

    I have tried many of your recipes. I love your idea of putting a beef roast in the crock pot and making three meals. I made roast with potatoes one night and taquitos the next. They were a hit!

    You’ve almost got me convinved that I can pull off one of your wonderful cakes. Just a quick question. When you use multiple shapes on a cake, do you use different sized pans or do you cut a sheet cake to your desired shape? If so, how do you keep crumbs from showing in the frosting?

  15. I made your freezer mac and cheese. You helped inspire me into trying some freezer cooking.

  16. Roast chicken, chicken stock and that delicious chicken gravy. That may have been from Good Cheap Eats. I LOVED the chicken stock video, I never realized how simple it was. Now I make it all the time. You’ve inspired me to do a better job meal planning.
