A Family Jewelry Tradition & a {Jules} Giveaway

That’s me and my grandfather. He passed away when I was five, but I know him because of my mom’s [5] stories. And the jewelry he gave her.

He always made it a point to buy my mom and her sisters a special piece of jewelry from time to time.

Times were tough in those days, but he must have made some sacrifices in order to buy those keepsakes for his girls.

Mom has given one of those pieces to me and each of my sisters.

And when we were growing up, she made a point, despite how tight money was, to buy us keepsake pieces of jewelry for Christmas, birthdays, and in particular, Valentine’s Day. They weren’t elaborate pieces of jewelry, usually a gold charm to wear on a chain.

They are wonderful tokens of Mom’s love for us [5] and her desire to make us feel cherished and special.

To be 8 years old and have a special gold necklace made me feel so grown up!

Meet {Jules}

In light of that family history, I’m very happy to tell you about {Jules} [7], a mom owned jewelry company.

Julie Miller is a mompreneur, making her home on the Central Coast of California, one of my very favorite places in the world. She was “inspired to start {Jules} [7] after keeping several mementos from her’s son’s childhood prompted the idea to create jewelry that embodies memories the way keepsakes do.”

{Jules} [7] produces beautiful, handmade jewelry that is perfect for gift giving, wedding celebrations,  or anytime you want to make a lady, young or old, feel special.

Each piece is presented in dainty wrapping that is sure to make any girl sigh.

And each necklace is embellished with a signature, heart shape at the clasp. Use it to extend the length of your necklace or let it dangle at the back of your neck.

Julie suggested that I choose a piece to review, so I danced around her shop, trying desperately to choose just one thing. Everything is beautiful! I chose this Open Heart Birthstone Charm [10]. The two birthstones are mine and FishPapa’s.

(Now, everybody say, “ahhhhh…”)

Note to all those husbands lurking out there, it’s a very affordable piece [10]. And you put the two of you’s birthstones on there, you’ll be a rockstar…. you know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, Julie also has a knack for making mothers of large families NOT look like Mr. T when they wear a “mother’s necklace.” Look at this pretty Family Birthstone Heart Charm [12] that she threw in the box when my back was turned.

She also offers a wide variety of little girl jewelry so that you can start the family tradition that my mother and grandfather have carried through the years. This year I get the privilege to pass on these itty-bitty pearl bracelets [14] that Julie made for the FishChicks. How fun is that?!

This week, five LifeasMOM readers will win a {Jules} creation [7]. One of each of the following pieces is up for grabs:

Leave a comment on this post, telling us which piece of Jules jewelry [7] you love the most.

Winners will be chosen at random and notified via email. Please respond within 48 hours to claim your prize. There are five pieces and five winners. One piece goes to each winner. I cannot guarantee which of the five pieces you will be sent. Comments left prior to 8 pm PST on Sunday, February 13th are eligible.
