As you know we are coffee lovers around here. It’s a daily morning beverage for hubs and me. And our teenager enjoys a cup of java in the morning as well.
However, lifelong coffee drinkers that we are, we’ve never used a coffee maker on a regular basis. Instead we use this type of cone filter that sits on your mug. I had one when I lived in France. And the one that we currently own “has been in the family” for 15 years. Hubs is quite proud of its longevity. He uses a gold filter inside it and is quite content.
I, on the other hand, am always game to try something new. Recently, we were sent a Keurig brewer to review. And while it takes up some countertop real estate it’s been so fun to use!

The kids have enjoyed making their own hot cocoa with the push of a button. And I’ve appreciated the ease and “no-brainer-ness” of making my morning coffee this way. Hubs mocks my laziness, but even he confessed that at night when he wants decaf, he appreciated just pushing a button.
I asked readers on my Facebook page what they thought of the machine. Most people were enthusiastic about the brewer. Here are some of the pro’s and con’s I either heard or experienced:
Pro’s
- quick and easy to use
- less coffee wasted since you can make one cup at a time
- coffee is hot when you want it instead of having to drink from an old pot of coffee
Con’s
- limited flavors/brands of coffee
- not as environmentally friendly as other methods
- cups can be expensive
- machine is expensive
It’s important to note that you can buy a reusable filter to use in place of K-cups. I bought the filter and have been brewing my favorite coffee this way. That knocks out Con’s #1, 2, and 3. But the machine is not cheap. I definitely understand that “con.”

I would love to win because I love iced coffee. I usually just make hot coffee and ice it down (I know the coffee lovers just shook their heads at me!). I keep eyeing up these sorts of machines, they sure are beautiful!

I’m a sucker for new kitchen gadgets but as your readers stated I too had the same concerns… Price, excessive trash and can’t make my favorite coffee (a friend owns his own small coffee roasting co. & it would be a shame not t be able to enjoy that coffee). Now there are reusable cups… My dream to add one to my kitchen counter may a reality. Ah, to be able to brew one cup of decaf in the evening -would make me ( & my household) happy.

I’ve made do with a finicky an old coffee maker since our first child left for college.
But since we have 3 kids spaced such that college tuition will be a part of our budget for 12 consecutive years, I don’t see replacing it any time soon. This machine would be a total luxury I’d love to adopt into my kitchen!

What a fantastic giveaway! I prefer iced coffee to hot, and have been cold brewing mine overnight. If I forget to start it, I’m out of luck in the morning. And trying a new flavor with the k-cups instead of purchasing and entire bag of coffee – sounds great to me!

I would love to win. I wish I could find the words to express how happy I would be… Maybe something like: If I won I would be so excited I would pee my pants! But then again when you get to be the age I am this could be a daily occurrence and not much out of the ordinary. Perhaps I could say something like: You could come over every morning and I will make everyone a cup of coffee. I’m the only one in our house who regularly drinks hot drinks and most of the time it’s too much trouble to make a whole pot just for me… It would be great to be able to make a cup at a time.
My husband and I love coffee. I drink mine black but he adds LOTS of French Vanilla creamer. Consequently, he makes the coffee too strong for me. I would love to be able to individually brew our cups each morning!

I am a cocoa drinker, hubs is a coffee drinker…what I most love about this is that those flavors don’t get all mixed up. I have to admit, I’m a black plastic cone and tea kettle coffee maker. The only drawbacks to this method, for me, are waiting for the second cup of coffee (no full pot to return to), and the ocassional morning where a slight bump sends the entire thing spilling on the kitchen floor, coffee grounds and all. But I guess that is a good reason to mop the floor while the next cup brews, lol!

I have wanted one of these it seems like forever. Being the single coffee drinker in the household means that I have to either waste a pot of coffee or resort to instant coffee, which is just not the same as fresh brewed. I have had coffee made with a Keurig and it tastes just like the coffee you would get in any restaurant. It is so much easier getting up early with them using this Keurig. I can get them fed and doing something while I sip on my delicious coffee. About the only relaxing time of the day with these little boys!
I live alone so this machine is perfect for me. I have an old single cup Black and Decker machine that is very loud early in the morning. The machine uses small round filters that I can’t find in stores anymore so I have to rinse the filter off and reuse them many times. I’ve been unemployed for over 3 years and can’t afford to buy a new one. I also love love this particular machine because it brews cold beverages too and I can have cold coffee. Yum! Yum!

So this stay at home mom makes her daily cup of “get through the day” in a very well loved and almost worn out French press I’ve had for 10 years and is embarrassing when we have company and need more than 2 cups:(. I got my mom’s smaller keurig coffee machine, people would tell me how wonderful it was. I get up at 5 in the morning and need to stop by Starbucks to get a coffee to go. Every-time I make coffee it is more like flavored water. So this smaller version I though would work great, bought the cups and started to make coffee. I probably wasted half the box as every other coffee made had grounds. I cleaned, scrubbed, air blasted the cup holder and still had grinds in my coffee. My friend makes great coffee in her keurig, so is it me, a water flavored coffee grounds kinda of mom. I hope it is not and like to try again.

I love my smaller Keurig. I love that my kids can make their own cocoa. I love that I can put my fav coffee in the reusable cup (as well as loose leaf teas). I received mine as a gift. I could not justify it as a purchase for myself. I would love to have another one to give to my cousin. She loves mine and can’t afford one of her own.

I am amazed that we can put a man on the moon and invent The Happy Hot Dog Man, but we can’t invent a carafe that doesn’t pour water down the side onto the counter when you’re trying to fill the reservoir.
For me, the best part about this machine is that you can take the reservoir out and not have to refill it very often. I can tote it over to my water filter spout and never have clean up that watery mess before I get coffee again! Woot!
As a mom of four, I’m sure you can imagine I’d never drop that kind of cash when I’m the only one that drinks coffee, but it looks really spiffy!

We have one at the office that everyone loves (hugs to the attorney who bought it!) … and I highly recommend using the extra filter to brew with regular coffee, just makes more sense IMO for those with “green” issues
My coffee maker at home is one of them that I got on sale at Target for $5. It’s almost 10 years old, surprised that it still works (please, don’t jinx it!) and I keep looking at the K one’s and think, yeah, I can afford it, but I just can’t do it … when this one dies, AND IF I don’t win, that will probably be what I buy next …
Iced coffee drinks while running carpool!
I’m not a coffee drinker, but my husband is. He’s had a really rough week (lost job, broken down truck, etc etc–you know how it never ends…) and I would love to surprise him with something like this.
I would love to win this coffee machine. My husband and I both drink coffee, but he only wants coffee in the morning. I don’t drink it in the night usually because it seems like a waste to make just enough for me. The truth is though, that if I won I would probably give it to my mother. She loves her coffee and has been talking recently about investing in one. Her birthday is in September, wouldn’t that be a wonderful gift to give her.

A Keurig in our family would be great. We drink coffee in shifts around here. I get up earlier than my husband, so either I brew a fresh pot where I get a freah cup and by the time my husband gets around it’s cold, or I reheat yesterday’s coffee and set him up with to brew a fresh pot when he gets up. I am sure it has already been noted by now, but you can get the insert to be able to use your own coffee, tea, hot chocolate, which reduces waste, is more environmentally friendly, and allows you more flavor options, and cost savings!! we love ours!
I love the big water container. I always spill water on the counter when filling my regular coffee pot. And I love a cup of coffee in the afternoon when little ones are resting.
