A Giveaway from Novica

February 28, 2012

In conjunction with National Geographic, Novica works “to give talented artisans around the world a place to express their artistic talents and provide access to the world market.”

Last year, I learned about Novica. Affiliated with National Geographic, it is a fair trade organization that acts on behalf of artisans throughout the world to have “a place to express their artistic talents and provide access to the world market.”

About a year ago, I had the opportunity to review a few samples and I was so impressed by both the quality and selection of the Novica marketplace. The bracelet and tote bag that I ordered were beautiful! The packaging just as much so. Needless to say, I was impressed.

Recently Novica invited me to check out their shawls, clothing, and other accessories and products. It was really hard to choose how to spend the gift card they sent. There were so many beautiful things to choose from. I ended up selected two of the lowest priced scarfs, one to keep and one to give away.

I like to share the love.

And I love it that folks who are working hard in places like Guatemala, Bali, Java, Brazil, India, Thailand, Mexico, and West Africa get the opportunity to sell their products on the open market for a fair wage. While the items are not cheaply priced, neither are they “cheap” if you get my drift. Shipping was only $2.99 which I consider more than reasonable.

I have ordered from Novica. While I loved the design of the earings, I was not prepared for the quality I received. The workmanship is amazing! I have had them for years and they look just as gorgeous as the day I got them. Also they were packaged so beautifully. I am very impressed with them!

Very cool. My aunt used to always get us stuff from 10,000 Villages…it seems like a similar concept, and I’m glad to learn about another company doing the same, good thing.

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
