Easy Homebaked Goodies

Homebaked goodies can be healthy and wholesome, especially with a little whole grain and fresh fruit mixed in.

I know, the holiday baking season is over. You might be sugared out from all the candy canes and sugarplums. I’ve found, though, that homebaked goodies satisfy the sweet tooth, but with a few whole grains, fresh fruits, and lower sugars, they also don’t count as junk.

Here are some of our favorite ways to bake someone happy:

Spiced Carrot Bread

Raspberry Cornmeal Breakfast Cake

Butternut Squash Brownies

Chocolate Cranberry Snack Cake

Spiced Pear Cake

Lemon Walnut Coffeecake

your squash brownies have literally changed my life. they are the only ones I ever make anymore, and they are the base recipe for any brownie treats I may try to make. no more box mixes for me!!!!!!!

  2. The spiced pear cake is a HUGE hit in our house. We’ve been making it for quite awhile now. My 5 year old even asked for it as his bday cake. Thanks

  3. We’re going to try the cranberry chocolate snack cake. (I found several partial bags of chocolate chips and some frozen cranberries when I did a freezer inventory last week and have been trying to decide what to do with them. We also have ripe oranges on our tree right now, so we don’t even have to go buy oranges. yeah!)

  4. I so agree. I’d like to get to the point where the only sweet treats/desserts we eat are homemade. I don’t really like banana bread but I’ve made a 9×9 banana cake that uses 4 overripe bananas and 2T plain greek yogurt (along with a stick of butter and 1/2 c brown sugar and a few other things) and my boys think it’s a big treat. Will have to try some of your recipes here, including the brownies – thanks!

  5. We made the spiced carrot cake yesterday. Love the fact that it makes 4 loaves at once. I thought it would mean 3 for the freezer but only 2 are making it there! LOL It is delicious.
We also try not to buy store desserts or bread. Thanks for all the recipes.
