  1. My son and I are reading “The Mysterious Benedict Society” right now as well. We love it. We also loved the Peter Pan series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson which starts out with “Peter and the Starcatchers”. Have you read that series?

I think that someone recommended that on a recent post and I requested it from the library. That was awhile ago. I better check on that. Thanks for the reminder. I love Dave Barry.

I teach fourth grade and their favorite read aloud hands down is “By the Great Horned Spoon” by Sid Fleischman (sp?) Goes great with California gold rush studies :)

  3. We are reading “On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness” – on your recommend! So far really enjoying it. Had to explain a few of the word puns to the kids (8 & 10) – they wanted to know why I was laughing! :)

It’s definitely a great read-aloud. I got some of the jokes while reading out loud that I might have missed if I was reading silently.

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
