Time to Reorganize the Kitchen

Time to tackle our zone of the month: getting the kitchen reorganized.

Chances are you spend a fair amount of time in your kitchen, be it cooking, eating, or washing dishes. Unless you’re super organized, it’s easy for all those cupboards and drawers to fall into a mishmash of chaos.

At least that’s what happens at our house.

This month on Zone Defense, we’re going to tackle the kitchen. If you don’t remember last year’s tasks, here they are:

The Kitchen

I’ll be tackling this zone this month, getting things in order, dejunking, and thinning out the things that we really don’t need. Since my kids help me put away dishes, I think a lot of things have become MIA. Here’s to their recovery in the next few weeks.

Come along and get your kitchen in order, too. I’ll post my progress in two weeks. I hope you’ll share yours.

Last year we worked through the zones of our homes working to combat clutter and get better organized. But, if you are anything like me, if your house is anything like mine, well, it’s time to start all over again.

The natural drift of things is toward chaos. My zones are that. Time to get cracking.

Like last year, I’ll be moving through the different areas of life, setting things to rights. The game plan is here.

I’ll be posting my progress once a month and hope you’ll jump in as well.

I have a few– :/ My worst areas are a cupboard full of sippy cups/ plastic kids’ plates and my junk drawer!! Would love to hear your advice on organizing both please.

Kids’ cups go in a big basket in the cupboard. And I don’t have a junk drawer. At least not in the kitchen. Hehe.

I have a “junk” drawer that just accumulates stuff as well as an extra cabinet where stuff gets shoved when trying to clean up! Also, on top of the fridge is horrible! I cannot jam anymore cereal boxes and bags of snacks up there!

Hmmm…. as I mentioned, I don’t have a junk drawer in the kitchen, so I’m not sure what to say. Except that if it’s stuff you need, then maybe it’s not junk. If it’s truly junk, then you have to pitch it.

That said, please know that I have plenty PLENTY of clutter everywhere else.

I don’t store food above the fridge, either. Hmmm. I guess I’m weird?

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
