Today is Day 28 of the Kitchen Time Savers series [4]. Check out the series and find out how you can get in and out of the kitchen.

Have a Backup Plan to Save Time in the Kitchen | Life as MOM

How many times has your dinner plan backfired on you? For me, at least once a week, if not more often. What I’ve found is that one of three things can happen:

  • I can spend extra time fiddling in the kitchen figuring out what to make or how to salvage my original plan.
  • I can go for take-out.
  • I can turn to a back-up plan.

I’ll take door #3, Bob.

Have a backup plan.

What I’ve found is that if I have a backup plan and the accompanying groceries, dinner happens pretty quickly, sometimes more quickly than my original plan could have — if it had obeyed.

Last fall I created a list of 12 Easy Meals to Make When There’s “Nothing” to Eat [5]. This year I followed it up with 6 MORE Easy Meals to Make When There’s “Nothing” to Eat [6]. These lists have been invaluable to me in getting meals on the table without shelling out too much cash or spending too much time.

Have a backup plan, and you’ll save time in the kitchen.
