Of course, I haven’t been able to test my hypothesis. The government will probably finally vote on getting rid of the time change once I have my method perfected, but here’s what worked this time:

  • I woke up early, and went to bed really early the week before the time change.

  • I saw the sunrise every morning in the days leading up to the time change.

Pretty simple, yeah? I suppose that for some people waking early would be hard. And I am talking really early. I was awake between 3 and 4 most days last week. It wasn’t by design. I am currently battling insomnia…

BUT, the net effect was that my body was already acclimating to being awake BEFORE the sunrise and I haven’t absolutely hated life this week as I have in seasons past.

I’m sure that if I googled I could find the scientific explanation for all this, and it would probably have to do with light exposure, circadian rhythms, and sleep.

Regardless, I’m feeling thankful this week that I don’t feel like I got hit by a truck. As a result, it’s felt overall like a very chill week. Here are some of the highlights:

  • I had dinner made and ready to serve by 6 pm on Sunday night. I started early because I made a Steak Pie from scratch. Normally, a meal this intensive would mean late dinner. And time change already meant late dinner. So this was a double win.

  • I finished my first round of EMDR therapy and I think it was really successful in helping me reprocess negative thoughts with more right, Biblical ideas.

  • I was able to hold to some healthy boundaries in some toxic relationships. This has taken a lot of head work so I feel really good about this win this week.

  • I did yoga once and got to the gym three times. Exercise has been hard to achieve lately, so I’m thankful for this small bit of progress.

  • I got to have all my kids safe and healthy under my roof this weekend as my son and daughter-in-law came to visit.

  • We all got a laugh over these grapes of Biblical proportions. They were just the grapes on sale at Ralphs this week!
