Christmas, Day 11: A Keep Warm Kit

Detail-oriented readers will notice that I am always cold. At least in winter. Even if I live in San Diego. For some reason, our home is always cold. Except for the two days in August when I melt in a puddle. But, particularly in winter, it’s chilly in our house, even if it’s warm outside. That means it’s super silly to turn on the furnace.

Instead, I’ve found ways to keep warm. I’m wearing fingerless gloves as I type this as well as furry socks. We keep blankets handy and often steal them from each other when one’s looking the other way. Scarves and microwaveable rice packs help keep the chill away.

It’s important to keep the chill away. This present, chosen by me, for you, should help you do that:

A Keep Warm Kit

One Life as MOM reader will receive a collection of items to help her keep warm: a blanket, a scarf, a set of furry socks, and IF I get my act together in time, a microwaveable rice pack. (No promises on that last one, but we’ll see.)

  1. Oh, this sounds good today. We are expecting a snow storm (5 to 10 inches) and sub-zero temperature (highs of 3 to 5 degrees and lows of minus 20) tomorrow. Even with the furnace on and relatively new triple pane windows and draft dodgers under the doors, it is still hard to keep the house warm and toasty.

  2. We live in Florida, and no one thinks it ever gets cold in FL, but this morning, it was 28 degrees!

  3. I love this! And those socks are so cute. :) I’m with you – I am always cold. Which doesn’t bode well for me as a massive snowstorm and high temperature of 0 are forecast for us tomorrow.

  4. Pretty sure my husband and child are part polar bear. I am always pulling on a jacket and wearing warm socks – and we live in FL!

This is a great giveaway. It’s supposed to be 11 degrees here in OK tomorrow.

  6. Love the timing of this one ;)

  7. this is an adorable give away. one can never have too many socks nor a blanket. I use them all the time for the past 20. I was in a bad accident 11 days after my 21st birthday. Drunk driver hit me and mess me up pretty bad. Spent 18 months, 3 days a week in therapy. It healed me but my shoulder will never be the same…. I love your ideas of these give aways.

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
