The Weekly Ramble

The weekly ramble: where I blog like it’s 2004.

The Weekly Ramble - Where I blog like it's 2004.

It was a very good week, all things considered. I didn’t get to the gym. School wasn’t as thorough as I would have liked. And I spent some stress on food photos for a project I’m working on.

That said, the bathrooms got clean, we were well fed, and we spent a glorious day at the beach on Monday. FishPapa met us there after work and we had a great time, hunting for shells, flying a kite, eating fish and chips, and watching the sunset. The littles and I are all ready to do this on a weekly basis.

It’s what happens to us each winter/early spring: we start going to the beach. Not because it’s unbelievably warm; it’s not. In fact, it’s more because the beach is pretty empty and we have it all to ourselves. Come May or June everyone and his brother goes to the beach, and it’s just not quite as much fun.

See? desolate.

There’s something so restful in miles of empty sand. So, expect to hear more of about late winter beach adventures.

In other news, hockey starts next week. Ballet and karate are in full swing. I have a steep learning curve with this new computer. I love it. But, I know that I’m not using it to the optimum.

We bought a replacement just in the nick of time. The boys have been using my laptop for school. On Thursday it started typing two characters for every key stroke. Nice. I’m thinking that the glass of water that one of my minions spilled on it three years ago is probably what caused this demise. At least it lasted a three extra years. I’m thankful we had the funds to replace it.

By the way, that photo has not been enhanced at all. In fact, the real thing looked even better than this. God is so amazingly creative. I love that about Him.

  1. Beautiful sunset. Haw magnificent are His works.

  2. I love the beach :)

Regarding that double keystroke – just had that on my needs ot be replaced desktop – go into the keyboard settings somehow [I forget – but I found it by looking it up] and change the repeat speed to much longer time

But yeah, I’ve started saving for a replacement!

    • Thanks for the tip! I will check that. It has a lot of software on it that I don’t want to rebuy yet, so if I can squeak a fe years out of it, that would be great.

  3. The new computer have Windows 8? Ten Months later and I am still mumbling about change ;(

    • Nope. I got a Mac instead. Been contemplating it for awhile. So far, I’m really pleased, and hope it lasts me the seven years everyone says it will. Fingers crossed.

I enjoy most aspects of this blog, but one of my favorite things is when you share the real life mom moments, and encourage your readers to be good moms. Your latest weekly ramble is an example. I enjoyed the take time to smell the roses series and the kinds of things that encourage me to enjoy my kiddos while they are here with me… I forget about that sometimes.

  5. If you’re ever looking for desolate beaches, just come further North to the Central Coast :) It’s just cool enough, so that people are deterred from spending all day at the beach.

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
