Freedom Isn’t Free

Over here today we’ll be eating hot dogs and apple pie and enjoying having my husband home for the day. At the same time, we acknowledge those who have fought for the freedoms that we have in this country, freedoms that spread across the world after 1776. While we know the War for Independence changed America, I think it’s fair to say, it changed the world, even in a small way.

Let’s remember that that freedom came with a price, and that it’s not a guarantee. Even yet there are nations and people who don’t enjoy individual liberties.

Freedom is never one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. — Ronald Reagan.

  1. Amen! I am so thankful to the men and women, past and present who have fought for this great country. We are forever indebted to them and to their families for sacrifices most of us will never understand the magnitude of.
