I’ve known many a mompreneur* in my time. Gramma John sold lefse and hand-crocheted baptism jackets. My mom crafted stuffed calico mice — don’t ask — and sold them at the Swap Meet. Her friends Rita and Linda opened a kids’ consignment store back in the day when those stores didn’t exist.

In modern times, my friend Amy has developed an app, the Pandora of wines. I write and publish books. My sister Jamie has her own manicure salon. My sister Janel works for businesses as a virtual assistant.

There is no end to the cottage industry in our times. In fact, as a freshman in college I fell asleep while reading read about the resurgence of the cottage industry and specifically how the information age would transform our times. This was 20 years ago, people, when only drug dealers had cell phones! I don’t think we really had a clue what was ahead of us. But Drucker and Toffler certainly did!

(I totally wish I had paid more attention in college. Sigh.)

And here we are with the blessed internet and unfathomable potential in terms of information acquisition. It’s a great time — and a hard time — for entrepreneurs to market their products. But, if they aren’t doing it on the web, then they are missing out.

Yet, it can be so hard to make a ripple in the big sea of the internet. So hard.

If you have a business, you need to find a way to interact with the world via the web. Depending on your business, a website, blog, and/or facebook or twitter are kinda important. But where do you start?

Got a business that you want to market on the web? This new resource could help you.

Prerna Malik, a longtime contributor of Life as MOM, has put together a package that helps you do this very thing. Her Content Cookbook is jam-packed with tips and tricks to help you market your business and boost your visibility on the web. I whipped through it last week and found lots of great ideas I had never considered before.

In the Content Cookbook you’ll find:

  •  A 90-page workbook/eCourse that’ll show you EXACTLY how to create updates that resonate with your audience.
  • 30 ready to use blog topics, easily adaptable to any niche.
  • 35-ready-to-use, fillable/printable social media updates that cover a range of topics- product/service sharing updates, tooting your own horn updates, engagement updates and more!!
  • 10 ready-to-use blank photo templates to share those gorgeous quotes you love.
  • A handy-dandy Picmonkey tutorial to help you create stunning images easily and in under 5 minutes.
  • Downloadable social media and blog editorial calendar templates {exactly the ones I use for all our clients!}
  • LOTS of examples for you to actually “see” what the final dish updates look like.
  • Bonus Recipes including low-tech tools I use, sizing guide for social media images, SEO guide and more!!
  • BIG BONUS: Membership and LIFETIME access to The Content Café, where you’ll get one-on-one access to me plus ALL the other content cookbook readers to brainstorm, discuss, learn, experiment and grow together!!

You can pre-order the book now to get $50 off the regular price of $199. I know. That sounds like a lot. I can’t tell you if you should get it for sure. It really depends on your business and what you know already. If you are starting from scratch and have the budget to invest, I’d say it’s definitely worth your while.

I was super encouraged with what I read and felt that I learned a lot –and I’ve been working on the web for over 6 years.

Go here to pre-order the book. This pricing is good only until July 9, 2014

  1. This sounds like a great resource! I’m going to put it on my list of “must-haves” as I’ve already exceeded this month’s budget when it comes to training :) The hubby might flip if I buy a book right now too. But this will be mine eventually…… ;) Thanks for the post!

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
