We’re getting into the homestretch right now with The Cookbook. I turn in my manuscript at the end of this month. What a wild ride it has been!
In case you didn’t know, this is a real bookstore book. Like one that you can go buy at Barnes and Noble or Borders. It was so exciting to see the other books in the Not Your Mother’s series all lined up at Costco.
Next year! My name! On the book table at Costco! Very surreal….
This cookbook will have 200 recipes, suitable for freezing. And more than half of them are recipes you’ve never seen before. It’s been such fun to dream, cook, and test all these new creations. Our freezer is just bursting. We’ll be “eating from the pantry/freezer” in July; that is for sure!
My Freezer Cooking of Late
Since a lot of my work in the kitchen has been creative in nature, I haven’t done my freezer cooking sessions the same way I have in the past. I’ve made use of mini-sessions mostly, spending blocks of time once or twice a week to prepare new recipes and stash them in the freezer. We’re growing fat over here.
But, I’ve realized that even amidst all the new creations, there are some must-haves in my freezer to help my meal times go more smoothly. Here’s the short list:
These are items that really help me with quick breakfasts and lunches. If I have a stash of these to rely on, life goes much more smoothly. At least where mealtimes are concerned.
What’s Your Plan?
Make ahead and freeze meals have been a tremendous help to me over the years. You don’t have to Crazy Woman and cook all day. Even if you just spend an hour or double tonight’s dinner, you can find simple ways to fill your freezer.
