Catch a Free Flick Every Week This Summer

I told you last week how we have a plan to have fun this vacation. One of the action items on our To Do list is to go to the movies every week. Now while I love going “to the show,” I don’t love the prices they charge these days. But, thanks to Regal Entertainment […]

Disneyland on a Dime

You can’t live or travel in California without a trip to Disneyland. Sooner or later, I think a trip to Disneyland, the original Disney theme park, is in order. Yet, the tricky part is finding a way to afford it. Amusement parks are never cheap. And while Disney, in my opinion, is the creme de […]

Memorial Day is More Than Just a Picnic

When I was a child I considered Memorial Day simply a holiday which interfered with my birthday plans. Inevitably, most of my friends would go out of town for the long weekend, and birthday party attendance was sparse. In later years I thought of it as an odd tradition that older friends had of decorating gravesites […]

FishFam Visits The Happiest Place on Earth

Well, we did it. We took the plunge and headed to Disneyland with SIX KIDS. What a blast!

DIY Smoothie Bar

My kids love to eat. And they love to cook. They also love to make some messes along the way. Recently, I came to terms with that cook-mess-eat reality. Afterall, I’m probably going to make a mess, too. So, I might as well say, “Yes!” and let them help. We can make memories and messes all at the same time. Oh, yes, yes, we can.

Magic Monkey Bananas: Evidence That I Can Be a Yes-Mom

Even though I try to plan all sorts of fun family activities, the truth is that I often tell my kids, “No.” There are only so many hours in my day. And, truth be told, dishes and laundry often pre-empt the fun stuff. I’m trying to grow in this area and redeem the days. These days of little ones will be gone before I know it, and I’m so often distracted by the busy-ness of life. So, I’m so excited to share this story with you.

Have Bag, Will Travel (or Go to the Beach, or the Park, or on a Picnic)

Now’s the season for getting out and about. The weather is warming up. Spring fever has hit. And the outdoors beckons you to load up the family and head out for adventure.

But, do you ever find yourself…

at the beach or other fun locale, and the weather turns cold, and tshirts and shorts just won’t cut it?
on a family field trip at a location where budget-friendly meals are a foreign concept?
at the park for an impromptu outing and find that you have no balls or toys in the car?
on a road trip without sufficient activities for the kids to amuse themselves with?
on your way to a faraway special event only to find out that someone made it into the car without any shoes?
