Are those kids all yours?
No, I share them with my husband.
Do you know what causes that?
Yes, and we’re quite good at it.
But, honestly, don’t you think most people with more than three children have heard that question/wanna-be-joke before? You’re not original. And I’m not sure it’s all that kind. It implies to kids that they aren’t the blessings that they are. Plus, it’s boring. Let’s move on.
How do you do it all?
I don’t. I hate to clean, so I waited until my kids were old enough and then I started pawning off all the chores on them. They each have a kitchen job , do their own laundry , clean the bathrooms , and keep their rooms mostly tidy. Plus, they have to clean a zone in order to get game time. You can’t imagine how enticing a round of Mario Cart is.
What the kids can’t do, I try to do myself. My husband helps. I had a mother’s helper for one month and it was heaven. I can’t wait for her to come back from South America. No, we didn’t scare her away. She’s on a mission with YWAM. Her friend started helping us this month. Yay for teen girls who want to help!
We’re going on vacation. Where should we stay in San Diego?
Honestly, I don’t know. I live in San Diego, have six kids, and my mother’s helper ran off to South America. I haven’t really had the opportunity to stay in many hotels in the area. But, we did do a family staycation at a resort once. You can read about that here . And hubs and I recently had a 24-hour date and stayed at the Marina. It was lovely. You can read about that here .
We don’t have any money. What should we do?
I feel your pain. Seven years ago we were in the same boat. God really pruned us then. We cut up the credit cards and pursued a debt-free life. I’ve written about our experience extensively. I’m a huge opponent of credit and a big supporter of savings. We paid off $18,000 in 18 months and lived to tell the tale. And we’re debt-free. You can be, too. Start here .
I am looking for a recipe that I know is yours, but I can’t find it.
Ah, yes, this is a problem when you write two blogs, both of which feature recipes. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the Life as MOM recipe search , chances are you can find it searching on Good Cheap Eats .
I thought that you did a Whole 30. Where is that information?
Yep, I did. I felt fabulous, but in the end it was just too stressful to eat that way. You can read all about my adventures in paleo-style eating over here on Good Cheap Eats .
