Happy Blogiversary!

Two years ago this weekend I was sitting in Panera having a Mom’s Morning Out. I’d been working on a project. Feeling somewhat impetuous because I had no idea what I was doing, I hit publish.

Life as MOM: The Blog was born.

To Be More Joyful

Motherhood. Home Management. Family Life. They comprise my life’s path. A path I love. A path I would gladly choose over and over again. A path that I thank God for the privelege of walking.

Yet, it’s not a path without its challenges. While I may think that I know the route ahead, bumps in the road surprise me. Twists and turns show me that motherhood — and life — don’t always go according to my plan.

Gift Idea: One Cool Bag

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. Have you got something special lined up for the sweet moms in your life? My husband groaned when he remembered that the FishMama Trifecta begins this weekend. I reassured him that Disneyland could cover all three. But, if a trip to Disneyland doesn’t suit your purposes, try this one on […]

Magic Monkey Bananas: Evidence That I Can Be a Yes-Mom

Even though I try to plan all sorts of fun family activities, the truth is that I often tell my kids, “No.” There are only so many hours in my day. And, truth be told, dishes and laundry often pre-empt the fun stuff. I’m trying to grow in this area and redeem the days. These days of little ones will be gone before I know it, and I’m so often distracted by the busy-ness of life. So, I’m so excited to share this story with you.

Be of Good Courage

Ever have one of those days when your child will not listen to reason?

Do you wonder if he will realize that you love him with all your heart and that you really do want his best, even if that means not giving him what he wants?

Ever feel like you are at your wit’s end as a mother?

Mother’s Day Gift Idea: Magazines for Under Six Bucks

For years my mother-in-law regularly gave me magazine subscriptions as gifts. Not only was it a great gift in itself to have some good reads, but it was also a monthly reminder of her care for me. Excuse the cliche, but a well-chosen magazine subscription really is a gift that keeps on giving. And you […]

Mother’s Day Gift: A Tea Party

Looking for a fun, yet economical Mother’s Day (or Any Day) gift? This tea party basket is sure to please. And it’s so easy! Such a great do-it-yourself kind of gift. Line a box or basket with a cloth napkin and fill with a pair of matching mugs, a box of tea, and some delicious cookies, like […]

Are the Big Rocks as Big as They Should Be?

You’ve probably heard the illustration multiple times. The college professor, lecturer, motivational speaker, or philosopher is standing in front of a large group with a big jar, a pitcher of water, and rocks of varying sizes. The rocks and water certainly appear to be too numerous or bulky to fit inside the jar. He then proceeds to demonstrate how all these items can fit inside the big jar if the larger rocks are placed inside first.
