Triple Chocolate Sundaes

Three forms of chocolate: brownie, ice cream, and sauce, come together for a delicious Valentine’s treat: Triple Chocolate Sundaes.

Triple Chocolate Sundaes | Life as Mom

Believe it or not, sundaes are one of the hot food trends of 2017. Yes, all things are made new again when you add funky flavors and modern technology to them. Or beef them up into, what Today has called them, maximalist sundaes.

This sundae is classic old school, and so delicious with its “maximalist” twist. You never can have too much chocolate, can you? ๐Ÿ˜‰

You will be the hit of the party, the mom of the year, the hostess with the mostest when you whip up these Triple Chocolate Sundaes. And you’ll be surprised at how easy the components come together. Even if you make some of them from scratch.

Bake up a batch of your favorite brownies. Once they cool — at least a little bit — layer them with chocolate ice cream and drizzles of chocolate sauce. Top it all with whipped cream, nuts, chocolate chips or shavings, and, of course, a cherry on top!

A few ways you can “healthify” these sundaes?

  1. Thank you for hosting. I can’t wait to see all the desserts this week. I shared my chocolate espresso mousse. It’s very easy to make but tastes like you took hours to make it.

  2. Thanks for hosting. Excited to see what inspiration gets linked up!

  3. Just wanted to suggest an easy way for you and the fam to enjoy fresh bread daily with very little extra effort. I first started with this link http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/Artisan-Bread-In-Five-Minutes-A-Day.aspx then I bought the book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. Is absolutely delicious, very easy and inexpensive!

Yes, it is good. I do that off and on, but we go through it so quickly and the dough box takes up so much room in the fridge, that I don’t always have it going. We have an awesome French bakery, though, that is a special treat. I just can’t make it as good as they do.

  4. Oh, THANK YOU for posting this. This mom-of-4-and-newly-pregnant-again will make GOOD use of this recipe!!! (And I LOVE your backdrop for the glass. Awesome.) ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. That looks fabulous! Yummy! It’s kind of nice to hear about other couples who are doing Valentine’s dates at home. We will be too, but sometimes I worry we’re not being romantic enough or something. As I write that, it sounds so silly but it’s true ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I love the “first date” meal idea. Our first date was at Pizza Hut (eeewww!), but the first thing I cooked for him was stomboli. He remembers it well and says if he wasn’t already in love with me he would have been after that meal.

  7. ::sniff:: no sweets to contribute (except the nutella hot chocolate deal, but that’s not valentine’s day worthy ๐Ÿ™‚ ) … gosh, I’m gonna have to work out extra hard after looking at some of these recipes!!!

  8. Does anyone else use the restaurants.com certificates? I’ve used a few for places we’ve never been too and have found a few new favorite spots (but unfortunately, without the certificates, its not a great savings!) … I have a few left from when I bought them at 90% off … read the fine print before committing to them!

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
