Bedtime Stories from Candlewick Press – A Giveaway

With the change of season comes shorter days and earlier bedtimes. It seems that we’re all ready to hit the hay hours earlier than normal. And so a few good bedtime stories are in order.

Recently, Candlewick Press sent me a group of new releases, especially for bedtime. These books are all beautifully illustrated and capture the attention of all my littles. We’ve had such fun reading through them.

FishBaby particularly loves Tuck Me In! which features animals who your child can “tuck in” with a diecut blanket. Too cute! And Interrupting Chicken is a cute look at bedtime stalling.

All the books are quality hardbacks, typical of this publisher.

This week three winners will each receive a set of the following stories from Candlewick:

  127. “My Goodnight Book” has been my favorite since I was little!

  128. My favorite bedtime story was always a book called “The Courage of Sarah Noble”. My mom first read it to me when I was really sick with Dysentery as a child. We lived overseas and it was only by God’s grace that I survived. My mom would read this book to me each night when I was afraid and sick. Ever after when I would feel afraid I would remember that story of one little girl’s bravery and say to myself, “Keep up your courage, Sarah Noble.”

  194. I was just remembering the other day how much I love Danny and the Dinosaur and Sammy the Seal when I was little. My kiddos all seem to like Goodnight Gorilla. I see many other comments saying they like I’ll Love you Forever. When I was in the hospital after having my first I was given that as a gift. I was such an emotional/hormone wreck that it made me cry too much. I still can not safely read it 4 years later πŸ™‚

  224. Daddy tells them a story from his childhood almost every night. He is one of 6 boys so there is lots of fodder! He often ties it to an event/struggle/question that has been going on that day. And our son cracks up knowing which one of his uncles often spilled milk on his lap and waddled away to change with his pants down!:^)
    “Lullaby Little One” got us through a time when our daughter was suddenly terrified of bedtime.

  368. Right now, my son’s favorite is something like “I love you so much.” It has the book and also has a cd. He falls asleep listening to the cd.. after it reads the story it plays soft music. It helped him go to sleep when he was having issues with “monsters”

  401. My husband has a habit of reading many of the same stories to our kids over and over, whereas I tend to read to them whatever our interests might be at the time. The kids still roar in laughter whenever they read Three Billy Goats Gruff or The Three Little Pigs (from our Golden Book collection) books with Dad. He tends to exagerate some of the funniest parts with and for them!

  432. Expecting our first in Dec, so I don’t have any *recent* experience with bedtime stories. Growing up, however, my favorite story used to be a poem in the “C” volume of Encyclopedia Britannica Junior. They had stories in the back and there was one about Hiccups. I don’t know how it happened, but either my parents or myself would end up getting a case of the hiccups once it was over (I can understand my parents – they did a good job of imitating the “hic” in the poem!)
