This week, I inventoried my freezer and came up with a cooking plan to fill my freezer. Then the kids and I ventured forth to Costco one day, and I took my two middle guys to the regular grocery store on a different day.
What’s pictured is what’s being transformed into lasagna, enchiladas, and burritos. I had other things in my cart, like milk, lettuce, bananas, cheese, bread, turkey deli meat, bagels, chocolate chips, flour, etc.
So far I’ve spent about $200 of our grocery budget for the month.
When all is said and done, I think I can take the next month off cooking — except for a date night in which I make my husband make tamales with me.
With the surplus in our food budget, I’ll stockpile sales, buy milk and fresh produce, and hopefully come in under budget by the end of the year.
