MOM Deals This Week

For those of you blessed with a CVS, this post is for you. If you’re far from one, take heart. The word on the street — straight from the guy who cleans our local stores whom my hubby met on one of his jobsites — is that CVS will be opening 3000 more stores before the end of the year. Whohoo! There may be one coming to your neighborhood soon. (I joke with my husband that I’m not moving anywhere without a CVS. Or is it really a joke?)

Anyway, here are some sales that stood out to me in this week’s ad:

– Buy $10 select candy, get $5 ECBs back. Hershey’s 6 packs are listed for $2.50 each. So if you bought four packs, you could get them at a cost of $5. You’re all set for this summer’s s’mores!

– Buy any Coppertone product, get $2 ECB.

– Sally Hansen Color Quick Pen $7.99, get back $5 ECB. Gotta paint those toenails for summer, Mom!

– Almay Mascara $6.99, get back $5 ECBs. Try a colored variety that will highlight your own natural eye color.

– Also there are still the monthly deals that apply for all of June. Check out my June primer for details. The MOM monthly deals you might like would include the Huggies Babywash, $3.49 -$2 ECBs.

As always Money Saving Mom has all the scoop on CVS doings. Check out the coupon database at Hot Coupon World for additional savings using coupons.

Last night I found a $5/$30 coupon in my inbox, so on our way home from church today we made a stop. It didn’t turn out as great as I had hoped because they were out of some of the freebies I was going to throw in. But it wasn’t bad.

2 newspapers (dud coupons this week which was a bummer) = $4
2 mascaras @$6.99 = $13.98
1 Smartrinse $3.49
1 CVS cotton swabs (in fancy blue, no less) $3.19
4 Balance bars (FishPapa’s breakfast)@$1.59 each = $6.36

Subtotal was $31.02 + tax
Minus $5/30
Minus $1 Smartrinse coupon
Minus $1 mascara coupon
Minus $1 mascara coupon
Paid $23.02 + tax in ECBs and a little cash
Received back $18.49 in ECBs, so the total “cost” was $4.53. Ya win some, ya lose some.

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
