My adult years have been characterized by a love of good food. Ok, yeah, it’s been a lifelong love affair. Me and good eats, we go way back.

Though I am as cheap as a summer day is long, there are some things that I choose not to scrimp on. Good coffee is one of them. And so is the cream that goes in.

I’d rather go without my morning cup of Joe than have it without the proper amounts of cream and sugar. 2 Tablespoons and 3 teaspoons, respectively.

Didn’t I already mention that I was a glutton?

Having a cup of coffee the way I like it, the French call it cafe creme, in my special Peets Coffee cup is just a fantastic way for me to start the day. Just a little, creamy, sweet pleasure first thing. And now that we’re in driving distance from Peets, well, I’m becoming a little more dependent on that particular brand as well.

No, it’s not a big deal. I’ll live without it. And I do on many mornings. But, it’s one of the finer things in life that I truly appreciate. A good cafe creme is evidence that God loves me.

How about you? Got some fine things in your life? Hop on over to The Finer Things in Life and share the good ideas.

  1. I’ve never developed much of a taste for coffee… although I do like the pricey fru-fru drinks. Not hard to stay away from those when the nearest coffee shop is an hour away!

But if I ever vacation in CA, I’ll be stopping by so you can fix me a FishMama special. 😉

I absolutely love good, rich coffee, but I can only drink it black. Never developed a taste for cream or sugar.

I think it’s when he learned that about me that my father-in-law fell in love with me. 😉

  3. I’m with you on this… It is my one splurge! I don’t use sugar, but gotta have my Half $ Half!!

  4. I am a new visitor. I love both real cream and real butter. No substitutes at my home. What a nice blog. In time…I might find time to stay for a longer visit and read backwards.

  5. I love my coffee first thing in the morning. 😀 I usually have a flavored coffee. YUM!

  6. Ya, you got me hooked on whipping cream from Costco now, so I actually whip mine with sugar in my Magic bullet that Matt got me for Christmas and put a dollip in my morning cafe… ohhhh how I love it! He makes so much fun of me for going through all that “trouble.” If he was a coffee drinker, he’d be right there with me…. he has no idea what he’s missing out on… poor, poor man.
