As you know, I am not a fashionista. Not yet, anyway. But, I am determined not to let my frumpiness get the best of me.

Now that I have cleaned out my closet and streamlined a few things, I feel so much better getting ready in the morning. My kids are almost big enough so that the stains and splotches on my clothes are because of my own clumsiness, not theirs. Not sure if that is a good thing seeing how often I have stains and splotches, but there it is.

Honestly, feeling “put together” really helps my mood and my confidence when I head out — even if it’s just Walmart. A girl should always feel like she can walk tall in Walmart. Just saying.

I still make some fashion faux pas, but I feel like I’m figuring things out — just a little.

Having the right clothes to wear as the holidays approach is a comfort to me. Now that I have a hairstyle that really works for me and have streamlined my wardrobe, I feel good about whatever event may come our way. Scrolling through Pinterest has taught me that having some basic pieces as well as some great accessories can really make the outfit. It’s like a great soup; you can make something awesome out of practically nothing!

For me a basic holiday outfit is a black skirt, black blouse, black heels, pearls, and a red sweater. It may seem basic, but it feels right. And I have everything already!

But I also know that I have some back-up options. Jeans and my striped sweater with my cute black shoes would work for something more casual. Or, I could do khakis and a blue blouse and navy heels. You probably have a wealth of choices in your closet. Now would be a good time to look!

Find out what little holes are in the ensemble so that you can fill them before you have that big party or event to go to.
