I live in a city that has played a large part in US Military history. San Diego is home to naval and marine servicemen and women.

Americans who serve our country shop in my Walmart, eat in the same restaurants that I do, travel the same streets. And yet, they become part of the landscape, just like everyone else standing in line in Walmart, at Chick-Fil-A, in traffic. And I confess, I forget.

I forget that they risk their lives for our country. I forget the sacrifices that their families make for a greater good. I forget that their lives are not completely their own due to deployments and other change of orders.

And I’m thankful for Memorial Day to remind me

To Be Thankful.

Thank you, to you and to your family for sacrificing for my family and our country. God bless you!

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
