The weekly ramble: where I blog like it’s 2004.

As I type, I am dealing with the worst stomach/GI upset I’ve had since Easter. Remember how I spent Easter Day in bed in pain. Yep, a possible flare of IBS is back. And I am not a happy camper. I was awake all night in discomfort.

However, today my kids have been absolutely wonderful, keeping things quiet, making me sports ade, and otherwise taking care of me while FishPapa was at work.

This post is up only because Janel prepped it for me yesterday. Else, you would be seeing nothing.

I covet your prayers. I have soooo much to do before our trip. And, yes, this is probably stress-induced. I’m resting and praying for peace. If you would pray for me, too, I would appreciate it.

I hope you had a great week!

Meanwhile, here’s what’s been happening on Life as MOM:

Be sure to let me know what stories and articles are helpful to you and what you’d like to see more of in the coming weeks. I want to make your “life as MOM” as fun and as easy as possible.

  1. As a fellow sufferer of IBS, I understand. I find that no dairy, lots of citrucel capsules, and no raw veggies helps. I hope your doing better soon!

  2. I have struggled with it for years also. What has helped me the most is vsl3 packets one a day. Also, no dairy or raw vegies which was SO hard for me since I love eating salads.

  3. Oh, I am so sorry! I’ve had a very funky stomach for years, so I can relate. No fun! Although it’s not a cure, ginger tea and a warm rice sock are comforting. Praying for you.

  4. Rebecca Scott says:

Praying for healing, peace and the ability to get it all done before your trip.

  5. I will pray for you. Hang in there.

  6. Saying a prayer for your physical wellness and mental peace.

  7. So glad to hear the kids are helping out. Sometimes families can get so used to Mom taking care of them that they forget that sometimes Mom needs a little TLC too.

  8. So sorry to hear. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

  9. I feel your pain 🙁 My mom, sister and me have had intermittent struggles with IBS. What has helped me lately is drinking a few ounces of kefir daily and a few ounces of whole leaf aloe juice (not mixed together.) I hope you feel better quickly.

  10. Prayed for you just now. Hope you get to feeling better quickly and have a peaceful day too!

  11. Peace and health to you!

  12. Prayers for a return to health! Rest and let those kiddos take care of you. 🙂

  13. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate that!

  14. Didn’t read your “ramble” til late Monday. Sorry for the discomfort & pain you’ve been dealing with this weekend. Praying for relief and an extra measure of peace to calm your spirit. Thankful your family has been helping and encouraging you.

  15. Sorry to hear of your pain. I will keep you in my prayers. I also have something that might relieve your pain and suffering. I can testify to the effectiveness of it – DigestZen oil from doTERRA. Really! It is the most amazing stuff on the planet (that I personally have used anyway!)

  16. I understand your struggles with IBS. They thought I had that for years but 2 yrs ago ended up in hospital and had a scope done and found out I had Crohn’s. New meds have worked better even though they are on the “mild” side as doc says. Holidays and anything I look forward too triggers me big time. 🙁

    • That, honestly, is one of my fears. I had this all the time in college and when I was teaching. Once I had kids, I rarely had it. I’ve had two flares this year, but otherwise been good. I’m thinking I need to get my stress in check before it morphs into something worse. Glad you are able to control it.

Thanks so much for participating in this conversation about "a mom's life."

This is a place where moms can be themselves. Remember that each mother's path looks a little different. Please keep your comments respectful and kind. Reasonable minds will disagree in a nice way.

So let's talk about it, using "our big girl words."
