We are unabashedly a movie family. I’m not sure how that happened. I suppose it’s because we don’t watch regular television programming — besides sports and a few special cartoons.

Every summer and every Christmas, we make the pilgrimage to the theater to watch a new release. This summer it was The Avengers. A few summers ago, we saw Despicable Me.

Family Movie Nights

Typically, our movie viewing is done at home, curled up with a bowl of popcorn. Hubby is proud of the media system that he built on a budget. He says it sounds just as good at home. That bodes well for Friday movie nights.

And the movies that we see in the theater are usually ones that we add to our home collection. Vons usually has a sale on new releases where I picked up Despicable Me. We’ve seen it countless times; it’s a family favorite.

Last week I shared a bit about a recent fave, The Lorax. It was really a cute movie. And don’t tell anyone, but even my tweens are singing the songs from the movie as they bounce around the house. Quite sweet, actually.

I didn’t know how wise Dr Seuss was until I saw some of the books that they’ve turned into movies. I don’t think I’ve even read many of the books, so it’s time to get cracking.

The Lorax was released on Blu-ray and DVD last week. Here’s the trailer in case you missed it:

  1. Are the movies from the giveaway on blu-ray or DVD?

    • Jessica Fisher says:

I believe you get three different versions in the box, blu-ray, DVD, and digital. But, I’m not 100% sure.
