Weekly Ramble

Hey hey hey! I started the Weekly Ramble way back in 2010. It’s had many iterations over the last decade and a half, but it’s currently on the blog every Friday.

I’m a Christian, wife, mother, homemaker, (retired) homeschooler, open nester, and writer. Here’s what’s been on my mind:

  • Weekly Ramble 7/13/24

Hello! Hi! How are you? I shall start this ramble with a clean kitchen. Doesn’t that make you smile? It took me two hours to get it there yesterday. Even though I hadn’t cooked in over 24 hours. Kids had been cooking and baking and ran out of time to clean up after themselves before…

  • Weekly Ramble 7/6/24

I had a very full kitchen today, basically trying to prep all the weekend meals in advance so that no one has to cook tomorrow. This is my third week doing this and it definitely makes for a full Saturday! We binged a few episodes of Sherlock which kept it entertaining. The girls never really…

Hello, hi, how are you? How did your week go? We are nearing a year of living in our current rental. It’s been interesting to see the differences across the seasons. The roses have gone absolutely wild. Remember this ginormous bouquet? Those are flowers from this bush pictured. Recently, I realized the power of deadheading….

Summer is officially here! Do you know how you’re going to spend it? Cue the theme song from Phineas and Ferb. Bryan and the kids worked their way through all of those episodes back when the kids were little and we had cable. To this day I cannot think of summer vacation without thinking of…

Oh me oh my! Are we really halfway through June? Being sick all of May really was a time warp for me. This week I’ve done what was unthinkable a few weeks ago: get up at 5 am every morning. I know. But, like this palm tree Bryan found at work growing through the asphalt,…

  • Weekly Ramble 6/8/24

Hello! Are you in summer mode yet? For me summer is a great big reset, for home, time management, and my regular routines. I’m working on it, but not quite there. In fact, this week was more about self care than anything else. I tried to sleep, read, clean my bedroom, and take things slower…

  • Weekly Ramble 6/1/24

Hello, Hi, How are you? I am ready for June. Dang. So happy to turn the page on May. As you know by now, it didn’t live up to its expectations, so I’m ready for a new month. Spending time setting up my planner for a new month is always something I enjoy. Since this…

  • Weekly Ramble 5/25/24

Hey friend! Before I get to this week’s ramble, would you take a minute to take this survey? I’m working to bring Life as Mom back to life as a resource for women in the midst of motherhood, from new moms to those learning what new seasons of parenting look like as your kids approach…

  • Weekly Ramble 5/18/24

Oy. Stick a fork in me. I’m so done with being sick. There isn’t much to report this week as I spent the bulk of it in bed. As providence would have it, my doctor’s practice has been repairing their entire communication system in the wake of a cyber attack. This means: no phones, no…

The Trifecta begins tomorrow! Yep, when we got married the day before Mother’s Day and a couple weeks before my birthday, we didn’t think far enough ahead that all three celebrations would fall in such a short span of time someday in the future. Here we are: Mother’s Day tomorrow, our anniversary on Tuesday, and…
