Hello, Hi, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. The Sacramento Fishers just left for the airport and the house emptied pretty quickly after that.
It has been a full couple of days. My in-laws rolled in on Wednesday when I was in the throes of food prep. We celebrated Grampa’s 87th birthday that night.
Thursday, of course was Thanksgiving, and yesterday Bryan and I and our married kids went to a Kings-Ducks game. It was a nail-biter, to be sure.
This morning we had breakfast together, played some games, broke out the leftovers, and said our goodbyes. I also got some ornaments on the tree and some decor about the house.
After many days of lots of laughter and conversation, I’m happy to have a few quiet moments.
Here’s what I’ve been doing, eating, listening/watching, reading, and/or writing this past week:

What I’ve Been Doing
Besides hockey and Thanksgiving prep, it was a quiet week. I’m still doing PT. I’ve got one more week left of the original 12 sessions approved by insurance.
It’s possible it will renew another 6 weeks, but I’m on the fence. I have lots of mobility back and very little pain — except during PT or exercises. lol
I am so thankful to be able to move better. May the other shoulder continue to behave itself.

What I’ve Been Eating
I took the last few days off counting macros, but I’m back at it today. I didn’t go crazy over the holiday and also didn’t gain any weight.
I’ve upped my step count and I think that helped.
I included lots of veg into our Thanksgiving feast which was nice. Now that there’s more room in the fridge, I’m thinking I need to make another run for vegetables.

What I’ve Been Listening/Watching
I haven’t been doing much of either since we’ve had company most of the week. But, I did play my Remember playlist on repeat.
I told you last week that I ordered some movies for the girls and I. They’ve all arrived so let the movie watching begin!

What I’ve Been Reading
I’ve definitely fallen off the reading wagon. I start The House That Cleans Itself in the summer of 2024 and I’m still only halfway done. Since I’ve got some Christmas books I want to read instead, I think I’m going to try to knock this book out today and tomorrow.
Sorry I haven’t updated my TBR list in awhile!

What I’ve Been Writing
I’ve started my new planner for next year and am slowly working on my vision page. It’s in a very rough draft, obviously.
Some plans for 2026 include:
- losing weight and building muscle
- working on handlettering
- growing flowers
- unlearning some negative thought patterns
- a redemption road trip
- taking up sewing and quilting again
- graduating my last kid
- seeing Yosemite
I’ll share more when I’ve got it finalized. Here’s last year’s vision page and all the things that actually happened this year!

That’s a very short and sweet update for the week.
How was your week?
What’s up in your world? Leave a comment or a prayer request. We’re all in this together!

This reminds me that I need to get my bookclub book finished up before our next meetup. While I didn’t get everything done on my to do list I did accomplish some things this weekend. I’ll take that as a win. Also, Thanksgiving Day was lovely even if we did have to go to two different houses.
Hi, Jessica. It sounds like a nice family time for the Fishers. It’s wonderful that you were able to celebrate Grampa’s birthday together too.
We had a nice Thanksgiving with our small family, and the turkey breast came out amazing. We will be doing that again. We will be skipping the gluten-free stuffing next year as my daughter didn’t love it. We also got to talk to our family across the miles. I also gave myself grace and didn’t worry too much about tracking food. I did okay overall and didn’t gain anything – a win.
I’ve got my Christmas cards and recipe cards and am looking forward to writing them. Thank you, Jessica. 🙂
Sounds like a great celebration!
We had a very low key Thanksgiving week here. It was much needed after all the chaos of the government shutdown (fed employee family) and my cold/sinus infection that needed meds to finally kick. I prioritized getting 8 hours of sleep every night over everything else this week! I want to finish the year strong, physically and habit wise, so I’ve set myself up a 30 day holiday themed habit tracker. I also spent some time brain dumping my 2026 plans! I like your vision board, may have to copy it for my own house.
Sinus infections are the worst! I’m still traumatized by my last bout from 2024.
