It’s been a wild couple days, so much so that I haven’t had much time, brain space, or internet connection to write the Weekly Ramble, or even journal for myself, a habit that is precious to me.

I am typing this from my bed in the New House, but will have to upload this at the Old House (if I can’t publish from my phone), names that will be sticking at least for the next two weeks while we get everything out of the OH and get it all cleaned up.
The house is quiet, the kids are mostly still sleeping. Bryan coughs occasionally from downstairs, remnants of the flu bug we had earlier in the month.
Rain is dripping down the spouts outside my window, Yes, rain.
It never rains in Southern California. Especially in summer. But, of course, it rained during moving weekend. Not full rain, just a mist/sprinkle/enough to have to cover furniture with plastic for the 4 mile drive from the OH.
In just a few minutes I need to get dressed and go deal with refrigerators. The NH has a very nice LG smart refrigerator. Unfortunately we had to mitigate the ice maker a bit so I couldn’t load it with food until today.
We ate dinner at the OH and kids did homework, slept at the NH, will breakfast at the OH.
So… today involves lots of fridge cleaning as we have two at the OH, and then moving them and the freezer. I need to pack up the kitchen, too, since the food will be here at the NH.
I never got our food stores down to empty during our pantry challenge, but I’m not gonna worry about it. This is clearly not a perfectly, organized move.
The NH is a bit smaller than the OH. Kids have bigger rooms and closets, but one fewer bathroom. I have no office and no pantry. Storage spaces have become more compact, so we will have more dejunking opportunities in the coming weeks.
We also have a small issue with the Wi-Fi. The NH has solar that is maintained via an internet connection. The owners left their router, etc in place. We (us, property manager, and owners) need to figure out how that’s going to work.
Overall, though, it’s good. There are so many new, modern features in this house! The Property Manager kept saying, “Welcome to the future.” Our OH was built in 2002 and everything was pretty much builder grade. The NH is definitely an upgrade.
I’m incredibly thankful for this, not just for the prettiness and the comfort, but also for envisioning our kids for big futures. I will explain more soon.
