It was a full week with some really good things in it. I don’t have the 1st Week of the Year Enthusiasm that I usually do at this time, but that’s okay.

I am slowly orienting myself that way, but had a pretty laid back week while I get up to speed, so to speak. Between different health issues, I’ve honestly been in a constant state of meh.

We shall overcome, right?

  • I’ve been struggling with some sinus issues for awhile now, and while I’m not “better” I am seeing some improvement. I purchased new air filter refills and a sinus hot/cold compress so hopefully those will help things along.

  • I dove into reading Spacemaker by Daniel Sih and it’s been mindblowing. I finished it in two days! I’ve ordered a used copy and added it to my girls’ list of required high school reading. It’s got me thinking in really interesting ways and I think the book is going to have a really positive effect on my year. Reading this book has dominated most of my week, but in a very good way. Review coming soon!

  • I’ve been in the kitchen a lot shooting recipes for Good Cheap Eats. It’s been delicious and I’m excited to give some old posts a glow up as well as share some new ones.

  • January is typically a Pantry Challenge month here. I’m doing it rather quietly so far, while I wait to gain some energy.

  • We continue to find hidden treasure in this new-to-us house, even though we’ve lived here four months already. First it was the amazing sunrises from my balcony. Last month it was discovering that the outlet where we put the tree was hooked up to a light switch. This month it’s that the citrus trees in the backyard are Cara Cara orange and lemon. Yay!

  • In 2020 Bryan and I were scheduled to go to a food blogging conference in Utah. You know what 2020 did to that plan. Our flight credits expired Sunday so we booked a flight to Kauai in April. We came up with that idea about 4 days prior. LOL. We are such impetuous travelers. We paid a little cash out of pocket, and we’ll pay a lot more for rental car, hotel, and food, but I’m excited. We haven’t done a week away since before kids, circa 1996.

  • I caught up with a couple old friends, like 20 years’ long friendships recently. One over the phone, one in person. It’s amazing to be in my 50s and still know someone from 3rd grade. Friendships are good.

Those are the highlights of the week. I’m excited about what I’m learning and planning for this year. More next week!
